This is an awesome specimen. It was sent to me by a friend and it was represented as the largest butterfly in the world. When I noticed how thick its body was I felt like it was a moth and not a butterfly. A butterfly would have a thin body...This is, in fact, a moth. But it is a very beautiful moth indeed. Google 'Attacus atlas' and learn more.
Notice how the quirky curved edge of the front wings shape and colour imitates snake heads. This discourages many predators.
