TRUST GOD TO PACK YOUR PARACHUTE!

I'm not making this up. We saw this sign on the way home.
This was too funny not to document and post on my blog.

I took a picture of this sign with my wife sitting by it!

I have made over 2500 jumps in the course of about 8 years,
and I taught a bunch of people how to skydive...and I
never had one student that I taught killed or injured.

If I had trusted GOD to pack my parachute I would be
dead because it would have never gotten packed.

I took this picture on our way home after my wife and I had a nice
swim in Nickajack Lake at the beach by the dam in Jasper, TN.

Tortoise named Gamera gets new leg

"The 12-year-old tortoise meanwhile has been chilling out, eating well and adjusting to his new mode of locomotion. Surgeons at WSU’s veterinary hospital amputated Gamera’s left front leg because it had become infected and glued on a swiveling caster-wheel prosthesis bought at the Ace Hardware in Pullman, Wash., for $7.

The 23-pound tortoise, named Gamera after the giant flying turtle of the old Japanese monster movie, is gaining weight and generally thriving with his new appendage, and that means he’s on track for a lifespan of possibly 60 years and a weight gain of some 200 pounds.

'He could get as big as the hood of a Volkswagon,' Powell said.

Gamera will live at WSU for at least a couple of years to make sure the prosthesis continues to work. The tortoise might also become a permanent resident, Powell said."

My old friend...busted!

My old friend Woodson Hannon recently got busted. The
stories are conflicting but he supposedly was pulled
over on a traffic stop (based on a tip) and had a quantity of heroin.
I have not had contact with Woodson for about 20 years, but
he was never the kind of person that wanted to bring
harm to anyone. In fact, it was the opposite, he wanted
to help people if he could. I figure he was growing
these poppy plants, as he said, to make a syrup to
put into tea and help to relieve chronic pain.

Update: I had a long talk with Woodson and
he told me the truth about all this nonsense.
Just as I suspected, it was a couple of overzealous
cops trying to get recognized and promoted. As usual
the cops and the media blew this all out of proportion and
what I thought probably happened was right on the money!
